Which of the following figures lie on the same base and between the same parallels? In such a case, write the common base and two parallels.
Solution.
(i) In figure (i), same base = DC and same parallels DC and AB.
(ii) In figure (ii), same base = SR but not between the same parallels.
(iii) In figure (iii), same base = PS and same parallels PS and QR.
(iv) In figure (iv), no common base.
(v) In figure (v), same base AD and same parallels AD and BQ.
(vi) In figure (vi), each part of the figure is on its own base but between the same parallels SR and PQ.

(v) A rhombus and a parallelogram.
Solution.
(i) ∆BAD is an obtuse angled triangle and ABCD is a trapezium.
(ii) ∆ABE is an isosceles triangle and ABCD is a parallelogram.
(iii) ABFE is a parallelogram and ABCD is a square.
(iv) ABCD is a rhombus and ABEF is a rectangle.
(v) ABCD is a rhombus and ABEF is a parallelogram
